What is Lung Cancer and Its Most Common Symptoms
What is lung cancer?
Uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that start in one or both lungs is known as lung cancer. These abnormal cells do not carry the effect of normal lung cells and do not develop into healthy lung tissues. When they grow, abnormal cells can make tumors and hamper the functioning of the lungs, which give oxygen to the body through blood.
Symptoms of lung cancer:
Lung cancer may not show any noticeable symptoms in the early stages. It can take years to increase. but some people with have lung cancer can get symptoms in preliminary stages. if you go to your doctor in preliminary stages of your lung cancer, your cancer can be diagnosed at an earlier stage. That time the treatment will be more effective. the most common symptoms of lung cancer are:
A cough that won’t stop:
A cough that does not go away or gets the worse situation. A normal cold cough or any infection will go away within a week or two. It can be symptoms of lung cancer. You should go to your doctor if you are facing the same.
A difference in a cough:
If any changes in a chronic cough please pay attention to it. if your cough becoming deeper or sound hoarse, coughing up blood or abnormal amount of mucus and you are coughing more often then it’s time to visit a doctor. If any family member or friend faces these changes, suggest them to visit their doctor.
Change in breath:
Shortness of breath or Harsh sounds with each breath is also possible symptoms of lung cancer. When you face shortness of breath or feel winded, make a point of noticing. If you face difficult to take a breath after walking, climbing stairs or other performing tasks once these were easy to you. Never ignore it.
Lung cancer may produce pain in the chest, back, shoulders. It’s often worse with deep breathing, laughing or coughing. If you notice any type chest pain confined to a specific area and tell your doctor.
If your airways become blocked, constricted or inflamed, lung produces a wheezing or whistling sound when you take a breath. Wheezing is also a possible symptom of lung cancer. Never think that wheezing or whistling sound is caused by asthma or allergies. Let your doctor confirm the actual cause.
If you find a significant change in your voice or if it’s pointed out by someone else that your voice sounds deeper then get checked out by a doctor. A hoarse voice can be caused by normal cold but this symptom may indicate something more dangerous when it continues more than two weeks. However, hoarseness is also a possible symptom of lung cancer.
An abnormal weight loss 10 pounds or more may indicate lung cancer or another type of cancer. This weight loss may result from cancer cells using energy if cancer is present.
Headaches may indicate that lung cancer has spread to the brain. Not all headaches associated with brain metastases. Anytime, a lung tumor may produce pressure on the superior vena cava.
When lung cancer has spread to the bones may create pain in bone, shoulders, back, hips, arm or neck pain. But it’s really tough to find the difference between bone & muscle pain. Bone pain increase with movement & often worse at night
